Kramnik makes the best result at the president's cup

KRAMNIK, THE BEST  AT THE PRESIDENT'S CUPKRAMNIK, THE BEST  AT THE PRESIDENT'S CUP

The President's Cup – Azerbaijan vs FIDE World – was an eight-round rapid chess tournament where the best players from Azeirbaijan met a FIDE selection of top players from the rest of the world, including World Champion Vishwanathan Anand and former World Champion Vladimir Kramnik. The event was played in Baku from 7th-9th May 2009

Vladimir Kramnik was the best player of the event, scoring 6.5/8, a performance of 2977. Anand made 5.5/8 for a 2850 performance

The final result was FIDE 21.5 - Azeirbaijan 10.5. Among the top players participating were Shirov, Radjabov, Karjakin and Mamedyarov. It was all in all an interesting event where Kramnik showed a very powerful chess.
