Kramnik is not taking part in FIDE world cup 2009. Next year 2010 Anand & Topalov will play a series of match, so what will happen next? I was hoped to see Kramnik in the FIDE world cup 2009 as Gata Kamsky. We can see at the end of 2010 or 2011 the world championship tournament between the 8 best players as like San Luis 2005. So what we got from Kramnik vs Anand match? So how we can blame Kasparov for claiming rematch with Kramnik after 2000?

All of those who claim Kramnik didn't give Kasparov a rematch, you must get your facts right. Kasparov himself accepted (maybe even it was his suggestion) a no rematch clause in the contract for that match against Kramnik. It's Kasparovs fault for not being super prepared and than off course lose that match. Kramnik rose to the occasion and played some mindboggling chess where the greatest player ever just didn't find an answer to. And I love Kasparov chess, but against Kramnik he just didn't cut it. For now against Anand, it can go both ways really. I just hope they can both bring their best chess to the worldchampionship match. I'm rooting for Kramnik, but if Anand becomes the better player in that match than all doubts about Anand being a true WC will be erased. If Kramnik wins he will be one of the most succesful WC ever (Who else has defended the crown 3 times sucesfully?), if Anand wins he will make his unbelievable chessrecord complete. greetings

Whatever the truth is, this match definitely, is one of the greatest and most exciting events in chess ever. The highest ranked player in the world (and Asia's most gifted player) versus The Man who dethroned Garry Kasparov. It's WOW!

Look at this link about a Champion should play all formats. http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=4779 It is unfair to Kramnik because everybody knows that Kramnik is only good in a match due to his multiple excellent seconds to assist him in preparation and computer programs. He is not and never so good in all formats that is why he tried to divert it in a format which will favor him and that is a "match". The rest of the formats requires more extensive preparation for his excellent seconds in a shorter period and Kramnik cannot absorb them all in a short period of time so therefore cannot hold different kind of pressures from different opponent styles as obviously proven from his track records. We can say however, the strongest and real champion can play all formats instantaneously of which Kramnik can never be. However, even Kramnik can never be the strongest, he can be a champion in a match for sure, he has the majority of the best seconds in the world who can study the games of his specific opponent's game. So I can still bet for Kramnik just for a specific match.

Before the Mexico tournament Kramnik had indicated that he prefers match play for the title and considers it more meaningful. This is not a personal attack against Anand it is simply his position that is shared by many chess fans and is consistent with the history of the game. The journalists for DNA have shown time and again that they are quite ignorant of chess and its history. They want to try to make this into a personal attack so that "their man" Anand will look like some sort of martyr. (If you read the DNA report they also try to paint Anand as a martyr because kasparov apparently slammed a door during their match. Big deal! But Anand properly refused to make that into an issue) Both Kramnik and Anand have tremendous respect for each other, both chess wise and integrity wise. Kramnik has long stated his view that he prefers a match format, Anand has been consistent that he is fine with a tournament championship. Both have expressed these views before Mexico and so this is not news. My view is both players play the board and they both politely express their views on the championship. They both are great assets to the game and show integrity. Personally I do hope Kramnik wins because of this difference in their views on whether the WC should be decided by a match or a tournament. IMO it is absurd to have the WCC decided in a tournament unless the champ dies or some other similar event happens. It has only happened one time before and that was when Alekhine died. Here are just a few reasons why I prefer matches: Ask yourself this question: What are the top 15 events in chess history? Then ask yourself: How many of those events were matches and how many were tournaments? Consider when Paul Morphy went to Europe to play the greats in matches. Can you imagine if instead of playing a match with Andersen he said "Hey I have an idea! Instead of playing each other head to head to sort out who is better, lets each play Harrwitz and Owens. Who ever scores more against these guys will be

Kramnik is russian, so naturally he plays the russian game (Petroff defense). It's a solid counterattacking defense, known to be very drawish with black...and that's fine (as black)... Now, let's see Anand play the indian attack with white... :-)

The real best player can play and takes 1st place at all format (tournaments-round robin, swiss, etc... and not just a match to be called the real world champion. All World Chess Champions from Steinits to Kasparov had proven they are the best at their heights not only as a match player but also their super-tournament results up to reaching the candidate matches. Kramnik never really had reached the challenger opportunity the moment he played Kasparov but should be Shirov (who beats Kramnik at that time), but probably Kasparov thinks he could have an easy task with Kramnik and also a Russian, so he picks up Kramnik of which a very big mistake for Kasparov. Kramnik never gave Kasparov another chance to have a rematch against him (LOL)to make sure that he will never be a world champ again and Kramnik did exactly the same for depending his title by picking up less threat (Leko) as his challenger (Alekhine "Style" who never give Capablanca a chance for a rematch despite Capablanca showed wining every super tournament at first place (same as Kasparov who wins almost every tournament) and so Alekhine picked-up less threat like Bogulyubov. Kind of trend isn't it? I know it is not a russian culture but probably part of chess demoralization strategy or teaching (?) but I guess more on individuality because I admire Spassky very much (a "one of a kind" world champion with tremendous sportmanship, that I never seen since.) This is a nice link and absolutely true. http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=4773

Kramnik is a match player, he has a bigger chance to beat anyone in a match because he has so many very good seconds to help him prepare for the match plus his very computer chess programs. His chess knowledge relies heavily with his seconds and chess programs for long preparation to match any top player. Unlike in a tournament against top players, it would be difficult for him to beat them one by one because he is not really the best in class from shifting from one top player to another. He needs to make his seconds work harder to study each games of those best players and preparation of his seconds will not be sufficient so it is difficult for Kramnik to win, as his seconds preparations are very important for him to win. Kramnik is completely different from those previous world champions like Spassky, Bobby Fischer and Kasparov who proves that they are best on their time not only in a match but even against any top players.

@ravi and Vlad: The Petrov is very solid! the lost against naiditsch -> 19...Ng6? was a blunder (in fanforum i wrote 22...Ng6, this is wrong). Take the rook with the queen....forcing a queen vs. two rook endgame like in 2004 first game vs. leko. And against Ivanchuk? A endgame blunder! The position was drawn. Ivanchuk like play such positions (remember Tal memo 2007) Vlad said: I don't know, what he like to show me.... prepare a supersolid petrov and a surprise maybe Qb6 in sicilian for more active play. Vlad makes a good job, i'm sure! And Germany is with you Vlad! But if you win in Bonn: You must learn German maybe from Carsten...(and I learn chess and english from you... :-)

Kramnik has a big chance in a match world championship. With the help of his seconds and nice computer softwares, their battalion can study well their opponent's games throroughly. Unlike with various top rated players playing at the same time in a world championship, Kramnik is having great difficulties to balance for shifting from dealing with one top player to another with different style because he is not so genius for dealing this kind of championship play, he needs more time for homework with battalions and computer chess softwares. Kasparov had made huge mistake way back 2000 for taking Kramnik as his opponent despite Kramnik is not the really the qualified contender that time but shirov. And that cost him his crown and never get a chance to get a rematch because kramnik is tenacious enough to deny the match so kasparov will never get it back. It is good however that worch championshio tournament set up is created because we can really find who is the best among top players and champion is really deserving to be called champions by beating the rest of top players. Kramnik however in the match play will have a big chance.

After my careful perusal of the statements so far made my the fans of GM Vladimir Kramnik, I would like to emphasize that a Match Play is clearly a definitive format to conclusively determine the undisputed World Chess Champion. Any other format will not yield the same or analogous conclusion. Thus, the 2008 World Chess Championship between GM Vladimir Kramnik and GM Viswanathan Anand will settle once and for all who is indeed the World Champ. Be it noted GM Kramnik had already proven everything in his previous World Chess Championship matches against former World Champions Garry Kasparov and Veselin Topalov. If GM Kramnik will emerge winner in the said 2008 WCC then I think it is already beyond doubt who is the real World Chess Champion! On the other hand, if GM Anand wins, that remains doubtful because he had not yet prevailed ( hope I am correct about this matter )over GMs Kasparov and Topalov in match plays UNLESS he can win over GM Kramnik convincingly in terms of theoritical and strategy preparations and in terms of talent, among other things.

Hi. I have been following your games and I feel you are a very great positional player. I consider you and Anand as truly great players presently. I am keen to watch the world championship match. I am a great fan of Anand but that does not come in the way of watching the games in true spirit. As always...the better player wins. Best of luck to you both.

nba legendary players were mesmerized by jordan's basketball skills and say he's the greatest ever. majority of the world's best pool masters conclude efren reyes'magical shots makes him the best ever.the greatest chess player ever is morphy. that's what all the chess geniuses are saying.anderssen, paulsen, lasker, alekhine, capablanca, botvinnik, they were all awed by morphy's super talent.fischer said morphy is the greatest and kasparov elevated morphy above him by regarding morphy a super genius!!!!!

Mr. Kramnik. The next yerar (2008) you will play the match for the World Championship against Anand. I hope that you win. You are my favorite player (active) and Kasparov. I know that Anand has best record agaisnt you. Howeever, in recent times you play best agaisnt him and win. Your experience in matches, your positional comprehension, maestry in the final, psycologic superiority and opening repertoire are points in your favour. However, I think that is favorauble to you try to play 1. e4 (without forgotten 1. d4 or 1.Cf3) following the example of Kasparov in the mach Vs Anand in 1995. The reason: the difficulties of choice of opening for Anand. I know that the Catalan is a powerfull weapon in your arsenal and against Anand is a good weapon because seems that Anand don't feel confortable in this type of positions. Good Luck. Dear Mr Kramnik, You said "At present, I take the view that I have just lent Anand the title temporarily”. Does that mean U r afraid of Topa as if U had won in Mexico (in ur dreams may be) U would have to face Topa again ???
Still the Champion

Until someone beats you in a head to head match you are still the current and 14th World Champion. You are the historical successor to those who held the title before.

Mr Kramnik, Firstly I have to congratulate you with your well deserved performance at the World Chess Tournament in Mexico. You played very solid and my surprise quite attractive. I must admit that I like to see aggressive minded players more than the more solid type players. For that I'm a huge supporter of Ivanchuk, Topalov and Morozevich. But through the years, I have witnessed how you properly defended your title and you was a real gentleman. A true role model for a world champion. Although Vishy Anand is a great player, I think you will take back your title during the WC Match in 2008. Because you proved yourself during matches for many occasions.
